About me...

I have 3 children. For my first birth, I was completely uneducated about natural birth. I knew NO ONE who had given birth naturally and couldn't understand why anyone would. I ended up being induced and having just about every intervention you can imagine. Pitocin, IV, IV narcotics, catheter, external fetal monitoring, artificial rupture of membranes, internal fetal monitoring, epidural, episiotomy, etc. I was fully medicated but it was still the most painful experience of my life. Even with all of that, I still considered my birth a beautiful experience. Mainly because I got a beautiful, perfect daughter at the end of the experience! :)  But,  I knew there had to be a better way!

My LC had given birth using The Bradley Method and told me all about it. I was hooked from then on. I went to the library and checked out every book on natural childbirth I could find. I knew that my next birth without a doubt, would be ALL NATURAL.

I got pregnant again when my oldest (Savannah) was 9 months old. We were thrilled. Unfortunately I miscarried that pregnancy and over the next 4 years miscarried 2 more times.

Finally, I got pregnant and it stuck! So, by the time I was pregnant with Summer (my 2nd child) I knew exactly how I wanted my birth to go. I called my local Bradley instructor immediately to make sure I would have a spot in her class. I couldn't wait!


While I was attending Bradley classes with this pregnancy, the instructor mentioned "painless" labor. I had heard about it before but now I knew that if it was out there to be had....I was going to have it! ;-) I studied, practiced my relaxation, did my exercises, etc. I was ready for my birth! I couldn't wait!

The birth was all I thought it would be and more. It was the most beautiful experience of my life, and yes...it was painless! Of course it was a lot of work, but painful it was not! Here I am in the tub happily laboring...
